So you cannot afford house insurance?

Many living in paid-for mobile homes and other houses find they cannot get insurance. I am one of them. When a fire started on March 4, the F.D. when they arrived thought the house would be burned to the ground. Instead they saw a fat "old man" in an electric wheelchair with a garden hose putting out the fire and it was almost out when they arrived 20 minutes after my 911 call. The Chief was honest, he said they expected to see the entire house GONE. What did Chuck Harder do that was so special? First they saw 3 Kidde ABC fire extinguishers lying on the ground. Then as they arrived the "old man" was in an electric wheelchair with a garden hose putting out the fire. And out of the hose came 80 pounds of pressure and just creamed the fire. How did that happen? Well, I had an 80 pound booster pump installed in both of our houses and hose bibs with garden hoses for such an event. Most wells and town water pressure run about 30 pounds and have no value to fight a fire. So you put the booster pump to suck in the water and get it up to 80 pounds. And that's what you need to save your home. Put a hose bib on each side of the home with a 50 foot garden hose on the other side of the booster pump. They are cheap and can be bought under $200.00 dollars.

The 20 pound ABC fire extinguishers are a help but do not depend just on them. They are empty in less than a minute. Even so, have one in your bedroom, Living room, kitchen and near each doorway to grab. All the things I tell you are cheaper than an insurance policy that will hit you with a deductible. NEXT: Have a backup generator. Heartland America has them for $400 bucks that hook up to a propane bottle like for a barbecue grill. Get an electrician to have it connect to  YOUR PUMPS in an emergency. Better yet, get a Guardian or self-starting unit as ladies may not be able to pull the cord to start a small generator. But get them and have a transfer switch to go to your well pump or booster pump if you are city water. One of the favorite tricks of the F.D. is to pull your breakers off and goodbye booster pump. If they are there, then maybe OK, but I do not trust anyone. Get several sprinklers for brush fires. One of my listeners in Mims, FL took my advice and his was the ONLY HOME LEFT after the fire burned down the power poles. I get letters monthly from people who said, "Chuck, you saved my home." One of them was from a spokesperson at the National Safety Council after I told him to buy three 20 pound ABC's and have one in the kitchen. He did. He still has a home after his wife was frying chicken, went to answer the phone and the kitchen went up in flames. My booster pumps come from Harbor Freight and Tools and they are made in China. Sorry, but that is all I could find. They saved my house. Cost? Under 200 dollars. And then use GREY PVC piping with blue waterproof glue as it does not sun rot. This is the difference between having a home or a pile of ashes. You pick it. Maybe people should donate to me so I can do more to help you. God knows I am trying.
